Self-Care Sunday: #FallFeels Edition
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The leaves are crumpling and turning to gold. The warm summer nights have drawn to a close and the cool crisp layer of Autumn air has rolled in. And let’s not forget the season’s guest of honor, Pumpkin Spice has made it’s highly-anticipated return. What more do we really need?
As the nights become cooler and the atmosphere becomes spookier it's time to bust out our finest collection of cardigans and festive socks to make the most of the fleeting Fall feels. Here are a few essentials necessary to ditch the Sunday Scaries and make the most of this Self-Care Sunday.
Rewatch the classics
Nostalgia is one of life’s greatest pleasures. It takes us back to simpler times and momentarily liberates us from the trials of today. Fall nights are the perfect opportunity to hop on the nostalgia train and rewatch some of Fall and Halloween’s greatest films. At the top of the list are the obvious classic horror movies, but let’s not forget the more light-hearted Disney Channel Original Movies.
Pack on the Pumpkin Spice
Highly-regarded as the quintessential basic b*tch fuel, Pumpkin Spice has earned itself a bit of a reputation. From cookies to coffee creamer and candles. There’s nothing you won’t find in this delectable flavor. Don't let the haters make you forget this flavor is only here for a limited time so make the most of it. For optimal Autumnal results, opt for a traditional PSL or try the chai version. Preferably from Coffee Bean and not Starbucks (no shade).
Personally, I love lighting candles, but oftentimes it is against my dad’s wishes (he swears I’m going to burn the house down). If candles are too wild for you, opt for tea lights or string lights. They add to the cozy Fall aesthetic and make for a picturesque Pinterest-worthy photo.
Crawl under the covers
Depending on where you’re from, the temperature outside might already be dropping. For us in SoCal, the extent of our Fall weather has been light rain and a slight pinch of cool air. Sure it’s not that cold here, but I will not be robbed of the Autumn experience just because I live in California. I bought a brand new duvet set that has arrived just in time for me to never leave my bed unless absolutely necessary.
Keep the snack game strong
Seasonal snacks are one of the greatest things to look forward to every Fall and Trader Joe’s has perhaps some of the best. I’ve tried candy corn popcorn (don’t knock it ‘til you try it) and the pumpkin cheesecake as well as the pumpkin almond beverage. Of course, you don’t have to have solely festive snacks, and TJ’s offers something for every flavor palette. It’s the perfect pitstop for inexpensive grade A snacking.
I dedicated this sweet Sunday to a full-day of self-care and bed-side blogging. Besides briefly taking my nieces to see Goosebumps 2 (which is an awesome movie), I've been in bed all day and I'm not sorry about it. We're halfway through October and pretty soon our pumpkin spice will be replaced with Winter Dream, so it's crucial to enjoy the select few weekends we have before the spooky season is over.
Happy Fall ♡
